There are over 1.5 billion people without homes or are living in substandard housing conditions. If we are projecting another 3 billion people to increase the Earths population we will need to think out of the box, so to speak. New and different forms of safe architecture will have to be developed from locally available resources, such as clay, sand , rock, and recycled materials.
Technique Integrity
The type of construction boom we have experienced in the last 50 years is no longer sustainable. The cost of constructing large, expensive homes has bankrupted our communities and country. Now is the time to reconsider what a home is and how are we going to build them without damaging the ecology of the surrounding area and without damaging our financial health as well. Inka Biospheric Systems is developing a system for building safe earthquake, hurricane, fire, even tornado resistant structures. The "Hydroponic House" system will grow food, recycle water, produce power, and maintain a balanced temperature.
Structure Biology
"Microtecture", is a style of building small modular houses that can be built by a few people with very few tools , from locally available materials. The construction can be done in increments as more space is needed and resources are available. By using the exterior walls of the house for vertical gardening, water recycling, and power generation, the home becomes a biologically active structure. With the addition of solar and wind power generation the "Microtecture" home can be close loop systems.
Green Walls and roofs
By incorporating "Vertical Gardens" and "Green Roofs" into new architectural design, these new buildings will help absorb storm water runoff, filter the air and convert hydro carbons into oxygen. It is important to plant already existing walls fences, and structures, with vegetable, flower and even small trees for the health and beauty of the community. Architecture will need to evolve into a more biologically collaborative science, "Biotecture" and strive to maintain a balance with the Earths Biosphere.
