Inka Biospheric Systems

Now we can scientifically measure the impact our activities are having on the environment. Only through deliberate and conscious action will we be able to prevent irrevocable damage to the Earth’s biosphere. In order to work on the problems that confront humanity, new businesses and technologies will need to be created.

Inka is a new and exciting business that addresses some of the basic issues that face humanity: water, food and housing issues our are main focus.

Solar Energy

The Earth receives more energy from the Sun in one hour, then it uses in one year. Solar panels capture about 19% of the available power.

The Inka Sun Curve systems use solar panels to power the water filtration and fish tank pump system. By collecting available solar radiation and storing it in the battery banks, our systems provide power to run itself and potential computer, or telecommunication systems.

Water

The same water that existed on the Earth millions of years ago is still present today. On the Earth, only 0.01% of the Earth’s total water is suitable for human consumption. Most of the world’s aquifers are severely depleted. It takes centuries for aquifers to recharge. The world is currently running a groundwater overdraft of 200 billion cubic meters a year.

Inka’s hydroponic grow systems are highly efficient in their use of water. They recycle and recirculate water through our "Bio Quilt" grow media multiple times.

Wind Power

Wind power involves harnessing the kinetic energy in wind and converting it to electricity via a wind turbine. Wind turbines consist of rotors (also referred to as blade) that turn a shaft that is connected to a generator. The generator converts the wind energy to electricity.

We power the Inka Sun Curve "micro farm" with a 500 watt wind turbine. the power generated is used to power the pump and filter system.

Refugees

Around the world today, millions of people endure war, genocide, famine and natural disasters. Often, they are forced to flee in search of safety, seeking temporary shelter until they can return home and rebuild their lives. Today there are 34 million refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. The average stay in a camp is 17 years.

Inka initially developed the Inka Suncurve to address the needs of refugees in refugee camps. Inka’s hydroponic and aquaponic growing systems are designed to grow food using limited water and land resources, helping people grow food in urban, suburban and rural areas.

Aquaculture

Aquaculture is the raising and harvesting of fresh- and saltwater plants and animals. Aquaculture was first practiced in China 3,000 years ago. Fish farming is the most efficient way to raise a high quality protein in a confined area. By cycling the fish pond water through a hydroponic garden, the water is used to grow plants, the plants are used to filter the water. This closed system is called Aquaponics. The Inka Sun Curve system is an Aquaponic "micro farm".

Climate Change

CO2 has risen from 280 ppm to 379 since pre-industrial times and its growth seems to be accelerating. Sea level is rising by 3.1 mm/yr, now measured by altimetry satellites. Ocean acidity is rising, hurricanes are become more intense, heat waves and heavy precipitation more frequent, and there is less sea ice and snow cover.

Adaptability is key to our survival, Inka designs and builds water conserving food growing systems that can be made to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

Agriculture Systems

Today, over half of the worlds population live in urban environments, with little or no access to arable land. Water supplies around the world are diminishing and over 2 billion people are at risk of food insecurity. The traditional methods which require heavy water consumption and transportation are not meeting the needs of 1/3 the worlds population. New food growing systems are needed for many parts of the world.

Inka Biospheric Systems is focused on designing new food growing systems that can be used where access to water and arable land is limited.

The Biosphere

The Earth’s Biosphere is the thin outer shell of the Earth and the inner layer of it’s atmosphere; the place where all living systems are found. "Biospherics" is the combination of science and technology designed to help keep balance within the natural biologic systems of the Earth. Inka is a new and exciting business that addresses some of the basic issues that face humanity: water, food and housing issues our are main focus.
